Servo System in Automation Industry

Servo system is an indispensable part of industrial automation, which is also known as follower system, the main role is to accurately follow or reproduce a process of feedback control system. Servo systems were initially used in the defense and military industries, and are now recommended for automated machine tools, wireless tracking control, and other fields.
Controller and power drive

The components of the servo system, consisting of three parts: controller, the power drive, the feedback device and the motor. The controller adjusts the amount of control according to the difference between the given value of the CNC and the actual operating value of the feedback device. The power driver makes the main circuit in the system, while the motor drags the machine according to the power supply. There are three main roles of a servo system.
  • Taking small power command signal to control high power load.
  • In the absence of mechanical connection, the input shaft controls the output shaft located at a distance, realizing long-distance synchronous transmission.
  • To make the output mechanical displacement accurately track the electrical signals, such as recording and indicating instruments. Servo system can be based on the object's position, orientation, state and other parameters can follow the input value of the change, its main task is to change the size of the parameters according to the control command, so that the equipment in the system's torque, speed, as well as the position of the realization of zero or change. For the current development of production, the servo system requirements are higher, so that it to high precision, high speed, high power direction. Combined with electronic and computer technology, the realization of digital servo system, effectively exclude non-linear errors and other factors, to further enhance its performance. At present, the variable speed ratio of AC servo motor has reached 1:10,000, brushless motor due to the absence of brushes and commutator parts, acceleration performance is two times higher than the DC servo motor, maintenance is also more convenient, usually used in high-speed CNC machine tools.

Servo motors are able to realize the transition from static to motion in a very short time, and can respond quickly and accurately to the instructions of the control system. This enables the automation system to respond flexibly in a rapidly changing production environment, improving the overall efficiency of the production line. The fast response characteristics of servo motors are especially important in applications that require frequent speed and position adjustments, such as material handling and positioning tasks in assembly line production.
